The Chicago chapter of World Can't Wait and other anti-torture activists have not given up on the righteous demand that John Yoo and other U.S. war criminals be held to account. We are out there with the truth that these were indeed crimes that committed against humanity and that no amount of reality twisting justification can disappear the physical and emotional scars of the victims. Nor will these reality twisting justifications stop torture. Imagine if there were such a mass outpouring from the people demanding the end to torture and that war criminals be held to account. If the likes of Yoo were prosecuted then we would begin to see the dismantling of the U.S. torture state. To hold one war criminal to account would mean that others would have to be held to account and thus the use of torture could no longer be legitimated...
